Welcome to Eltham & Environs Walking Group website
Our friendly group offers a range of walks from regular weekday walks to extended walks, including monthly Saturday walks, regional trips, as well as occasional interstate and overseas walking trips. Some examples of walks are shown at Walks Examples. Photos of previous walks and trips can be seen in the Gallery.
Weekday walks are scheduled within half an hour of Eltham for approximately 2 hours every Monday, Wednesday & Friday. Routes are drawn from a list of over 150 walks, taking in rail, river & creek-side trails, national parks & reserves, suburban streets & country lanes. Many of the walks allow participants to enjoy the beauty of the Green Wedge close to Eltham as well as surrounding localities and outlying areas.
There is no need to book in for weekday walks, you just turn up at the appointed time and location. You can do as many weekday & Saturday walks as you like for a very low annual fee of less than $50. You may participate as a guest walker on three separate occasions before you decide if you would like to join us as a member.
Our Membership Secretary advises “we have Easy Walks and Moderate walks; we aim to offer walks according to an individual’s fitness levels. Of course, we always end our walks with a cuppa and a good chat, we’re a friendly group and are open to newcomers.”
We hope we have your interest, do come and join us for a trial walk. For further information please contact our member Secretary – Leida at [email protected] or call 0402 779 749.
Eltham and Environs Walking Group (EEWG) was established in 2000. It evolved from the Eltham Living and Learning Centre and has grown to a membership of approximately 75 with an age range of members of around 50 to 80 years. We became incorporated in 2002 and affiliated with Bushwalking Victoria in the same year.
Come & Join Us - Great fun at any age
IMPORTANT NOTE: We are aware that outdated versions of some of our walks are in circulation from sources outside this website. EEWG walks have been substantially modified in recent years, to reduce danger to walkers and avoid incursions onto private lands without permissions. The recent, modified walks are only available through this website, and to members of the EEWG. Please be aware that other, earlier versions of the walks (made available by others) are no longer approved for walking by the EEWG.
