Heysen Trail walks & 2 base Camps April 1 to 12, 2025:
The walk was coordinated by Helen Boak from EEWG. Participants included 5 from EEWG, 5 from Essendon WG and 6 from Exploranges Bushwalking Tours with whom Helen had previously travelled. We started walking at Cape Jervis on arrival day, then drove to our Camp Site at Port Elliott for 5 nights base camp. (Five participants chose to stay in cabins). We then took a day to drive to Edeowie Station, Flinders Ranges where some stayed in the Shearers Quarters and the others camped in tents . Most days we walked around 14 km. Some highlights were Deep Creek NP down south and Rawnsley Bluff Climb for half the group while others did a flight over Wilpena Pound in the Flinders Ranges. I received a number of lovely messages at the end of the trip saying what a great trip with a lovely group of people and thanks to the team from Exploranges who facilitated our trip.
